The American Council of Chief Defenders (ACCD) is dedicated to promoting fair justice systems by advocating sound public policies and ensuring quality legal representation to people who are facing a loss of liberty or accused of a crime who cannot afford an attorney. The goals of the ACCD are:

  1. To support leaders of all types of indigent defense systems through the exchange of information and ideas, training and networking; and
  2. To increase our impact on criminal justice policies and practices nationally and locally.

The ACCD is a Section of NLADA. A section e-mail list facilitates member communication and the sharing of information.
